Beach vacations with the family are wonderful! Days on the warm sand, playing in the water, building up memories and pictures that will last long after the vacation is over. Of course, you want your family’s adventure to be wonderful but, you also know that being at the beach brings with it some concerns as well. As you consider what to bring to the beach with your family, it’s important to think not only what will be fun but, of course, keep your child safe. Things like a personal flotation device!
Safety at the Beach
Let’s discuss the most important thing first, safety. Providing child safety around water is critical to a great day at the beach and at Foam Awesome we believe swimming aids can play a positive role, that’s why we recommend SwimFin. SwimFin is used by thousands of swim schools to help develop good habits and accelerate learning to swim. SwimFin is not a life-vest and should only be used under constant competent adult supervision. The innovative, comfortable design supports a wide range of ages including children as young as 18 months. The SwimFin device for kids allows for a more natural swimming position, with the body and arms able to have the full range of motion. It uses elastic adjustable straps to fit properly and will not slip off or tip swimmers forward or backward. In addition, these easy-to-pack removable floats come in nine fun colors, and seamlessly turn into beach role play as a “land shark!”
Here are some other sun protection and safety items to pack along to keep kids safe:
- Sunscreen UV protection and SPF lip balm
- Windscreen or umbrella
- Hand sanitizer
- First aid kit, bandaids
- Insect repellant
- Water and snacks
- Cornstarch/baby powder to remove dry sand from the body
- And, as always, nothing substitutes for the level of water safety provided by vigilant adult supervision.
Clothes at the Beach
Kids (and adults!) can need a lot of different clothes at the beach. Here are some ideas that may help you feel cool, comfortable, and protected.
- Water shoes or flip flops to keep their feet safe
- Swimming suit
- Rash guard
- Swim diapers
- Dry clothes for afterward
- Wet clothes bag and dry clothes bag
Toys at the Beach
Lastly, and the most fun, are the beach toys! Here are some great suggestions for toys to bring to the beach!
- Weighty balls that won’t blow away
- Waterproof speaker
- Sand toys/bucket and shovels
- Waterproof playing cards
With the right planning, clothing, safety items, and toys, your trip to the beach this summer can be awesome! We hope that adding the items on these lists, along with your SwimFin swimming aid, will help make safe, fun memories for your family.
